Peter Collett, PhD

Senior Advisor

Dr Peter Collett is a Senior Advisor to Highmore, focused on the application of behavioral research to the selection of investment teams and the relationship of behavior to investment performance.  Peter is a behavioral psychologist and a former Oxford professor.  For many years Peter was a member of staff at the Department of Experimental Psychology at Oxford University, where he taught and conducted research. While at Oxford University Peter also supervised PhD research, in which capacity he supervised Highmore Partner Brian Altenburg’s PhD research which forms a basis of Highmore’s investment approach.

During Peter’s tenure at Oxford and subsequently, Peter has made numerous appearances in various television documentaries in the United Kingdom and abroad. Dr. Collet’s books include Gestures: Their Origins and Distribution, Driving Passion: The Psychology of the Car, Social Psychology at Work (edited with Dr Adrian Furnham), and Foreign Bodies: A Guide to European Mannerisms. Peter’s latest book is The Book of Tells: How To Read People’s Minds From Their Actions, which has been published in ten countries.

Dr Collett’s latest book formed the basis of Body Talk, an award-winning two-part TV series that he presented on Channel4 in the United Kingdom. Beyond Peter’s research and publication he has provided consultancy and completed behavioral research projects for major financial institutions such as Barclays, Invesco Perpetual, J.P. Morgan and HSBC focusing on the application of behavioral research to the investments realm. Dr Collett holds his doctoral degree from Oxford University.
